How to Create an Email Account in cPanel

A professional address like you@yourdomain.com is created in cPanel in under a minute. Here is the full process, including the settings that matter.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Email → Email Accounts.
  2. Click + Create. If you host several domains, pick the right domain from the dropdown first.
  3. Choose the username — the part before @. Keep it short and professional: info@, sales@, accounts@, or firstname@.
  4. Set a strong password or click Generate. This is the password you will enter in Outlook, Thunderbird or your phone — store it safely.
  5. Set the storage quota. Choose a sensible size per your EconomicalHost plan (e.g. 500–1000 MB on shared plans) rather than Unlimited, so one mailbox cannot fill the whole account. See quota guidance.
  6. Click + Create. The account is live immediately.
  7. Test it. Click Check Email next to the new account to open webmail, and send yourself a message.
  8. Connect your devices. Use Connect Devices to get the exact IMAP/POP/SMTP settings for Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and phones.

💡 Good to know

  • On EconomicalHost shared plans, mailbox space is working space — set up POP download so mail is stored on your computer and the server stays free.
  • Create role addresses (info@, support@) as separate accounts or as forwarders to an existing mailbox.
  • Bulk mailing and newsletters are not permitted on shared hosting — keep mailboxes for normal business correspondence.
