How to Back Up WordPress in Softaculous
Softaculous can back up your entire WordPress site — files and database together — and restore it with one click. Take a backup before every update or major change.
Step-by-step
- Open Software → Softaculous Apps Installer → All Installations.
- Find your WordPress install and click the Backup (down-arrow) icon.
- Choose what to back up — keep both Directory (files) and Database ticked for a complete backup.
- Click Backup Installation. Softaculous creates the archive and lists it under the Backups/Restore section.
- Download a copy off-server. From the Backups area, download the archive to your computer — server backups still count against your disk usage.
- To restore, open Backups and click the Restore icon next to a backup; Softaculous puts the site back exactly as it was.
💡 Good to know
- Softaculous backups are convenient but keep an independent copy too — see full cPanel backups.
- Delete old Softaculous backups regularly so they do not fill your disk quota.
- A backup taken one minute before an update is the cheapest insurance in web hosting.
