How to Install WordPress with Softaculous
Softaculous installs a complete, ready-to-use WordPress site in a couple of minutes — no manual database or file setup. It is included on EconomicalHost plans from New Bee upward.
Step-by-step
- Open Software → Softaculous Apps Installer in cPanel and click WordPress, then Install Now.
- Choose the protocol — pick https:// (or https://www.) so your site is secure from day one; this requires an active SSL certificate.
- Choose the domain and leave the "In Directory" box empty to install at the domain root (yourdomain.com), not yourdomain.com/wp.
- Set the Site Name, admin username and a strong password. Avoid "admin" as the username for security, and note the credentials.
- Set the admin email to a working external address so password resets reach you.
- Click Install. Softaculous creates the database, files and login. When it finishes, your site and its wp-admin login URL are shown — log in and start building.
💡 Good to know
- Install at the domain root unless you deliberately want WordPress in a subfolder.
- Right after install, set permalinks to "Post name" under Settings → Permalinks for clean, SEO-friendly URLs.
- Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated — see updating WordPress and securing your site.
