cPanel Dashboard Overview: What Everything Does
Opening cPanel for the first time can feel busy. This overview explains each section of the dashboard so you know exactly where to go for any task.
Step-by-step
- Email. Create and manage email accounts, forwarders, autoresponders, filters and spam protection. This is where most day-to-day work happens.
- Files. File Manager (browse and edit website files in the browser), FTP Accounts, Backup and Disk Usage tools.
- Domains. Add domains and subdomains, set up redirects, and manage DNS records via Zone Editor.
- Databases. Create MySQL databases and users, and open phpMyAdmin to browse data.
- Metrics. Visitor statistics (AWStats/Webalizer), bandwidth usage, and error logs — your first stop when troubleshooting.
- Security. SSL/TLS Status (AutoSSL certificates), Directory Privacy for password-protecting folders, and IP blocking.
- Software. Softaculous one-click installer (on plans that include it), PHP version selector, and optimization tools.
- Right sidebar. Shows your account statistics at a glance: disk usage, email accounts in use, bandwidth this month and more.
💡 Good to know
- Use the search box at the top of cPanel — typing "email" or "backup" jumps straight to the right tool.
- The right sidebar shows usage against your plan limits — worth a glance each month.
- Tools you see depend on your EconomicalHost plan; for instance Softaculous is on New Bee plans and above.
