How to Set a Vacation Responder in Webmail
Going away? A vacation responder replies automatically to incoming mail. Mailbox users can set their own from webmail without cPanel access.
Step-by-step
- Log in to webmail at yourdomain.com/webmail.
- Open Settings → Filters (or the Vacation/Autoresponder option, depending on the webmail layout).
- Create a vacation/autoresponder rule with your message — dates away and an alternative contact.
- Set the start and end dates so it switches on and off automatically.
- Set a reply interval (e.g. once per day per sender) so frequent contacts are not spammed.
- Save. Alternatively, set it in cPanel via Autoresponders if you have account access.
💡 Good to know
- Keep the message brief and professional — return date and who to contact urgently.
- The cPanel Autoresponder tool offers the same feature with scheduling, if you prefer.
- Avoid auto-replying to mailing lists; the interval setting limits loops.
