How to Set Up Global Email Filters

Global Email Filters apply to every address on your domain at once — ideal for blocking a spam pattern or routing certain mail account-wide.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Email → Global Email Filters in cPanel (this differs from per-account Email Filters).
  2. Click Create a New Filter.
  3. Name the filter descriptively, e.g. "Block fake-invoice subject".
  4. Set the rule — choose a field (From, Subject, Body, etc.), a comparison, and the matching text.
  5. Choose the action — Discard, Redirect, Deliver to folder, or Fail with message — and Save.
  6. Test the filter with the built-in Filter Test box by pasting a sample message.

💡 Good to know

  • Global filters affect all mailboxes — be careful with broad rules so you do not catch wanted mail.
  • For one mailbox only, use per-account Email Filters instead.
  • Order matters — a Discard rule stops later rules from running.
