How to Scan for Malware with Imunify360
EconomicalHost servers include Imunify360, which continuously scans for malware. You can also run on-demand scans and review or clean detected files yourself.
Step-by-step
- Open the Imunify360 tool in cPanel (under Security).
- Review the dashboard — it shows malware detections and overall status for your account.
- Run an on-demand scan if you suspect a problem, and wait for it to complete.
- Review the Malicious files list — each entry shows the infected file path.
- Clean up or remove infected files. Use the Cleanup action where available, or restore the affected files from a known-clean backup.
- Address the root cause — update or remove the vulnerable plugin/app and change passwords (see recovering a hacked site).
💡 Good to know
- Real-time scanning runs automatically; on-demand scans are for when you are worried.
- Cleaning files without fixing the entry point means reinfection — always patch the cause.
- Keep all software updated; outdated plugins are the top infection route.
