How to Track Email Delivery in cPanel

When someone says "I never got your email", Track Delivery gives you the facts: every message the server sent, its destination, and the receiving server's response.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Email → Track Delivery in cPanel.
  2. Search by recipient. Enter the destination address (or leave blank for all recent mail) and press Run Report.
  3. Read the result column. A green tick = accepted by the receiving server. Deferred = temporary problem, the server keeps retrying. Red = rejected/bounced.
  4. Click the info icon on any row for the full SMTP transcript — the receiving server's exact response, e.g. "mailbox full" or "message rejected as spam".
  5. Interpret common errors: "User unknown" = address typo or deleted mailbox; "Quota exceeded" = recipient's box is full; "Spam message rejected" = content or reputation issue (see fixes).
  6. Check the Delivery Event column for Success on incoming mail too — Track Delivery shows both directions for your domain.

💡 Good to know

  • "Accepted" by the receiving server means it arrived — if it is not in the recipient's inbox, it is in their spam folder.
  • Deferred mail retries automatically for up to a few days before bouncing back to the sender.
  • For bulk patterns of rejections, contact EconomicalHost support with the message ID from the transcript.
