Set Up Email in Outlook for Mac

Outlook for Mac sets up domain email over IMAP in a couple of minutes. Have your email address and password ready.

SettingIMAP (multi-device)POP3 (download to one computer)
Incoming servermail.yourdomain.com
Incoming port993 (SSL/TLS)995 (SSL/TLS)
Outgoing server (SMTP)mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing port465 (SSL/TLS)

AuthenticationRequired — same as incoming / normal password

Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain. The exact hostname is in cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices — see finding your mail server settings.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Outlook → Tools (or Outlook menu) → Accounts → + Add an account.
  2. Enter your full email address and click Continue.
  3. If asked to choose a provider, pick IMAP/POP (not Exchange/Office 365).
  4. Enter the settings: IMAP incoming mail.yourdomain.com port 993, SSL on; SMTP outgoing mail.yourdomain.com port 465, SSL on; username = full email address; the mailbox password.
  5. Click Add Account. Outlook validates and begins syncing folders.
  6. Test: send yourself a message; confirm it lands and appears in Sent.

💡 Good to know

  • See a certificate prompt? Use the exact server hostname from Connect Devices — it matches the certificate.
  • Outlook for Mac is IMAP-first; for the POP workflow use Apple Mail which supports POP fully.
  • Folders may take a few minutes to fully appear on large mailboxes.
