How to Create a Domain Alias in cPanel

An alias (parked domain) makes a second domain show your existing website — perfect for owning yourbrand.in alongside yourbrand.com, or catching common misspellings.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Domains → Aliases in cPanel (on newer versions: Domains → Domains → Create a New Domain with "Share document root" ticked).
  2. Enter the alias domain (e.g. yourbrand.in) and submit.
  3. Point the alias domain's nameservers/DNS at your EconomicalHost hosting, exactly like the main domain.
  4. Visitors to either domain now see the same website. The address bar keeps whichever domain they typed.
  5. Optional — redirect instead of mirror: for SEO it is better if one domain is canonical. Add a redirect from the alias to your main domain so search engines see one site.
  6. Email on the alias: mail sent to anyaddress@yourbrand.in can be routed via forwarders once the alias is active.

💡 Good to know

  • Aliases share everything with the main site — there is no separate folder.
  • Mirroring two domains without a redirect can split your search ranking; the 301 redirect approach is recommended.
  • AutoSSL covers active aliases automatically.
