How to Use AWStats in cPanel

AWStats turns your raw logs into readable graphs: visitors, popular pages, referrers, search terms and bandwidth — all without adding any tracking code.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Metrics → AWStats in cPanel.
  2. Click your domain to open its statistics dashboard.
  3. Review the monthly summary at the top — unique visitors, number of visits, pages and bandwidth.
  4. Explore the sections down the left: visitors by country, hours, most-viewed pages, entry/exit pages and referrers.
  5. Check "Referrers" to see which sites and search engines send you traffic — see analysing referrers.
  6. Compare months using the month/year selector to spot trends and growth.

💡 Good to know

  • AWStats counts server-side, so it includes bots; an analytics service counts real browsers — they will differ.
  • For a quick visitor count, the cPanel Visitors tool is simpler.
  • Stats update on a schedule, so today's data may be partial.
